Choosing the right wheels and tires for your golf cart can be a daunting task. There are many aspects to take into consideration. Custom wheels are a very personal touch for a person’s golf cart, and everyone has a different opinion about what is best for their cart. Here are some common questions I run across:
Will they rub?
Will they sling mud on me?
Will they ride rough?
There are many factors that determine how a wheel/tire combo will ride. Here are just a few examples of some problems that may occur.
10-inch wheels and low-profile tires. They look good and they still have a close to factory ride. They won’t normally have a problem with rubbing on any brand of cart.
12-inch wheels and low-profile tires. This is the most popular size! They look better than the 10-inch, but the ride is significantly more stiff. You may encounter a slight rubbing issue with this size, depending on the brand of cart.
14-inch wheels and low-profile tires. On most brands they will rub unless some kind of modification is done. Depending on the brand of cart a lift kit may be needed. Just don’t expect them to ride smooth!!
Everyone likes what they like, we are all different. Just keep a few things in mind while shopping for wheels and tires. Ask yourself, will they, or won’t they rub? Is a smooth ride a big deal for me? Will they stick out and throw mud all over me and the cart? If you need help, this is something we deal with every day. Give us all call.
